Do y'all think it's cold outside? Who would guess? Anyhow this is canning week-end. Penn State has the largest student run philantrophy group in the world. Each year the University spends countless hours raising money for the Four Diamond's Fund. This is my 4th and final year as a Penn State student and THON member. Over the past few years, I have spent countless hours in the bitter cold, standing or walking back and forth on cold cement sidewalks. There were times it was difficult for me to even get out of bed the day after. But what a small price I paid compared to the children who are or in the future may suffer from some form of cancer. As a parent who lost a child (not to cancer, but still difficult, none the less) I understand the hardship a family faces in these circumstances. They need all the emotional and financial support they can get. You could say I am "paying it forward." In the past I have never asked family members if they would like to donate, but as this is my final year, I would like to extend an invitation to all those who would like to help me support this fund. Some people will stop and say, "All I have is a penny," we accept it. Those pennies, turn into dollars, and those dollars turn into millions. Last year we raised over 6 million dollars!
I would like to invite each of you to go to Youtube and type in THON. Click on the videos--THON 2009 Promo Video, This says quite a bit. Also watch THON 2009 Warriors Video, and of course any others you would like.
If you would like to make a donation, please let me know so that I can tell you how to make the check out. No amount is too small.
