THON

Forgot to mention, Penn State raised close to 7.5 million dollars overall!!

THON banquet

The THON team out did itself this year by raising 71,000 dollars for kids with cancer. Penn State Fayette raised the most money of all the satellite campuses bringing home the 1st place award once again. Not bad for being in one of the poorest counties in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Even with a weak economy, it just goes to show there are still many giving and caring people in the world. What a refreshing thought with all the bad news our media likes to daily share with us. May the fruits of our labor be used to help the many families involved with the Four Diamonds Fund in their times of need while their children so persistently fight their ongoing battle against cancer. And for the children whom lost their battle, may their families find a sense of peace. Thanks to all who unselfishly gave of themselves to help others.

FTK-For The Kids

Do y'all think it's cold outside? Who would guess? Anyhow this is canning week-end. Penn State has the largest student run philantrophy group in the world. Each year the University spends countless hours raising money for the Four Diamond's Fund. This is my 4th and final year as a Penn State student and THON member. Over the past few years, I have spent countless hours in the bitter cold, standing or walking back and forth on cold cement sidewalks. There were times it was difficult for me to even get out of bed the day after. But what a small price I paid compared to the children who are or in the future may suffer from some form of cancer. As a parent who lost a child (not to cancer, but still difficult, none the less) I understand the hardship a family faces in these circumstances. They need all the emotional and financial support they can get. You could say I am "paying it forward." In the past I have never asked family members if they would like to donate, but as this is my final year, I would like to extend an invitation to all those who would like to help me support this fund. Some people will stop and say, "All I have is a penny," we accept it. Those pennies, turn into dollars, and those dollars turn into millions. Last year we raised over 6 million dollars!

I would like to invite each of you to go to Youtube and type in THON. Click on the videos--THON 2009 Promo Video, This says quite a bit. Also watch THON 2009 Warriors Video, and of course any others you would like.

If you would like to make a donation, please let me know so that I can tell you how to make the check out. No amount is too small.

More school!!

As of yesterday I'm seriously thinking about going back to school in the fall and get my master's degree in education. Didn't know for sure until yesterday and it just seemed like the right thing to do. Of course, I still need to find out about what the next steps are to get in and if they are going to give me lots of money to do this. That will be the main thing. I need the money to pay for it. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I begin to look into this matter.

First Day of Internship

It's been a long day. I had to be at my internship by 7:30 am. I am not an early morning person!!
After leaving there at 4:00 pm, I had to go to my internship class which runs 4:30 to 5:45 pm.
Can you believe it, I now have to call my pcp so that we can meet in Scottdale for him to check my Mantoux test for my physical. I have to say he is going above and beyond the call of duty. And needless to say I am exhausted.

I'm already looking for the "EASY" button!! Oh yeah!

Vacation

Spending some down time in Tennessee before returning to the grind next week. I may look like a professional pool shark, but quite frankly as the popular saying goes, "Don't quit your day job" applies!!
